The Faculty of Law of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) has had the distinct honour of hosting a guest lecture delivered by Dr. Nandasiri Jasentuliyana on 16. 01. 2025. A distinguished alumnus of the University of Ceylon and Ceylon Law College, Dr. Jasentuliyana pursued his postgraduate studies at McGill University, Canada and has made remarkable contributions to the field of Space Law. Notably, he was the first Sri Lankan to be appointed by NASA as a member of the drafting committee for the Outer Space Treaty, and has served as an internationally renowned Space Law expert until his retirement.
The lecture, titled “An Introduction to Space Law,” was conducted for the students of Intake 39 and 40 of the Faculty of Law. It provided the students with a valuable opportunity to gain expert knowledge on an emerging area of International Law, reinforcing KDU’s commitment to delivering quality legal education through engagements with distinguished scholars and professionals. Following the lecture, students actively engaged in the Q&A session, resulting in insightful discussions on contemporary issues in Space Law.
