The Inauguration Ceremony for the Day Scholars enlisted to follow LLB Degree Programme at the Faculty of Law was held at 1500 hours on the 20th of January 2022, at the Auditorium, Faculty of Graduate Studies, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The distinguished invitees included Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Prof. Sanath Dhammika, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr. VD Kithsiri, Registrar, Members of the Academic Staff, and parents of the students.
The Vice Chancellor in his address to the undergraduates, emphasized the qualitative and holistic educational experience at KDU while introducing them to the wide array of opportunities and extra-curricular activities available. He urged them to capitalize on such opportunities to develop as strong academics, sportsmen and women, imbued with efficient communication and social skills, and also stressed on the transparent and timely completion of undergraduate studies at KDU, the support provided by the staff and the academic rigour of the programme. The Vice Chancellor also underscored the necessity for undergraduates to develop as fully fledged professionals and dutiful citizens to the country, and to continue with protecting the reputation of KDU as being an institution which fosters fully employable graduates.
The session was followed by refreshments, where the Vice Chancellor and members of Staff interacted with students and their parents.
