2nd International Conference on International Law

2nd International Conference on International Law Perspectives on Sustainable Development Goals was held at the Amity Law School, Noida, New Delhi this month. Representing the Faculty of Law, KDU Ms. Bhagya Wickramasinghe, Mr. Isuru Liyanage and Ms .Padmaja Wijesooriya Lectures in Law, presented their research papers at this conference. Ms. Bhagya Wickramasinghe presented her research paper on the topic of ‘Implementation of the Concept of Sustainable Development- A Case for Sustainable Development Law’ and there she extensively discussed the need of a proper law for the achievement of sustainable development goals. Mr. Isuru Liyanage presented his research paper on the topic of ‘Effectiveness of the Polluter Pays Principle in the International Environmental Law to Promote Inter-Generational Equity: Special Reference to Sri Lanka’ and in his paper he discussed the relevancy of polluter pays principle to achieve the inter-generational equity through sustainable development goals. Ms. Padmaja Wijesooriya presented her paper on the topic of ‘The Future We Want; Adopting Appropriate Policies to Protect Traditional Knowledge in order to Promote Sustainable Development; Sri Lanka as a Reference Point’ and in her paper she discussed the validity of protect traditional knowledge in order to achieve sustainable development goals. Ms. Bhagya Wickramasinghe, Mr. Isuru Liyanage and Ms. Padmaja Wijesooriya conveyed their gratitude to Dr. Prathiba Mahanamahewa, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration) and Vice Chancellor of KDU for their support and encouragement.
