A students get – together organized by the Faculty of Law, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was held on 30.08.2022 under the theme ‘Eagles’ Night’. The theme was meant to reflect courage, fortitude and willpower, as symbolized by the Eagle, reflecting the characteristics of the Legal Profession. The Chief Guest of the event was Vice Chancellor of KDU, Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil.
The night showcased various talents of the law undergraduates, including dancing, singing, compering and decor, while emphasizing the social skills, hidden strengths, and competencies of the student body as a whole. Dance items such as Ballroom, Jive and Bachata competitions had many enthusiastic participants, culminating in an award for the ‘Best Dancing Couple’. Also, the ‘Prince of the Night’ and ‘Princess of the Night’ were selected, who were judged on their appearance, demeanor, confidence, intelligence and communication skills. Students were also given the opportunity to perform group fusion dances, solo and group singing performances.
Building on its success, ‘Eagles’ Night’ will be made an annual event to facilitate social skills and cohesion among the students, outside the classroom. The entire event was made a reality due to the tireless efforts and unstinting support of the members of staff in the Faculty of Law and other officials of the University. It was indeed a celebratory occasion depicting the student life at KDU. The invitees, academic and non-academic staff of the Faculty and the students were hosted a sumptuous dinner.
