World Environment Day is celebrated on 05th of June every year to encourage people to take appropriate measures to protect the environment. The theme for the year 2022 is “Only One Earth”. Coinciding with the above theme, Environmental Assistance, Research and Training Hub of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU-EARTH) of Faculty of Law, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University organized a Shramadana campaign on 03rd of June 2022 to clear the areas in which ‘Ehela’ trees were planted last year. Poorly grown plants were replaced with new plants and covers were placed to protect vulnerable plants.
This campaign was organized with the assistance of Adjutant Lt. Col. JDB Jayaweera and CO (Admin) Lt. Col. BAMC Beligaswatta under the supervision of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration) Brigadier Wipula Chandrasiri and the Vice Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris. Students and academic and non-academic staff members of the Faculty of Law and the Curator of KDU Mr. Umesh Kumara took part in the event.
