National Moot Court Competition

The team representing the Moot Court and Debating Society of KDU, emerged champions at the first National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) organized and hosted by Sri Lanka Law College on the 11th and 12th of March 2017. NMCC was based on domestic law, with invitations being extended to law schools throughout the island.

The KDU team endured 4 rounds of moots and made history by winning the H.V. Perera memorial trophy in the final round against the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. The final round of the competition was judged by Hon. Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare, PC; presiding judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, as well as Hon. Justice A.H.M.D. Nawaz and Hon. Justice L.T.B. Dehideniya; presiding judges of the Court of Appeal of Sri Lanka.

KDU team consisted of three undergraduates from Faculty of Law, Radha Kuruwitabandara, Nath Gunawardena and Maleesha Fernando. Nath Gunawardena was adjudged the best speaker of the competition.
