A 5 day Workshop on Space Law organized by the Faculty of Law, KDU in collaboration with Moragoda International Law Trust was held from 1st to 7th September 2016. The Resource Person of the Workshop was Prof. Balakista Reddy, Professor of International Law, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, India.
Main objectives of this Workshop were to disseminate information and raise awareness and knowledge in the area of Space Law, to promote an analytical discourse on the main legal issues in relation to Space Law through a discussion of the relevant theoretical concepts and principles and to encourage a culture of innovative thinking among the professionals involved in the relevant fields.
The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the Workshop was held on 7th September 2016. The Chief Guest of the event was the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Rear Admiral Jagath Ranasinghe. The Resource Person of the Workshop Prof. Balakista Reddy, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration) Major General Ruwan Kulatunga, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Jayantha Ariyaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Law Mr. Mangala Wijesinghe, Head of the Department of Civil Law Dr. Thusitha Abeysekara, Head of the Department of Military Law Major Dilantha Aluthge, academic staff and the administrative staff of Faculty of Law also attended the ceremony. Addressing the gathering the Vice Chancellor emphasized the significance of learning evolving areas of law and the inter-relationship between different disciplines of Law. Certificates to the participants were awarded by the Vice Chancellor.
