The inaugural Cricket Encounter between the Faculty of Law, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and the Sri Lanka Law College was held on the 2nd of August 2023.
The Chief Guest, Major General Milinda Peiris, the Vice Chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) graced the occasion along with the principal of Sri Lanka Law College Dr. Athula Pathinayake. The women’s encounter commenced at 1100 hrs, with the two women’s teams, entering the ground with great spirit. The Sri Lanka Law College team won the toss and chose to field, and they managed to get 9 wickets while the KDU scored 48 runs. When it was time for the Faculty of Law, KDU to field they got seven wickets while the Sri Lanka Law College team scoring 49 runs won the match. The award for the Woman of the Match was awarded to Oluni Anthony from Sri Lanka Law College, for her excellent performance.
The men’s encounter was held in the afternoon, and the players were all hyped with a great enthusiasm. The Faculty of Law, KDU won the toss and chose to field. Sri Lanka Law college scored 141 runs for 9 wickets. Then it was time for KDU to bat and they scored 142 runs for 3 wickets enabling KDU Law Faculty to win the championship. The Man of the Match was awarded to Yukthi Napagoda from the Faculty of Law, KDU for his exceptional performance.
The championship trophies were awarded by the Vice chancellor of KDU, Major General Milinda Peiris along with the Principal of Sri Lanka Law College Dr. Athula Pathinayaka. While we congratulate the winning teams we hope to see all the fans and supporters of another amazing cricket encounter next year.
