A Guest Lecture on Sports Law arranged by the Legal Aid Centre of Faculty of Law, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University was held on 02nd February 2021 for the LLB undergraduates. The resource person was President’s Counsel Sumathi Dharmawardena, Additional Solicitor General of the Attorney General’s Department, Sri Lanka. He is also an Advisor to the Ministry of Sports and serves as a member of the panel appointed to amend the Sports Law of Sri Lanka. Besides, he has also contributed to drafting the Prevention of Offences Relating to Sports Act No 24 of 2019. The lecture focused mainly on the manipulation in sports and match fixing, and the penalties imposed for such offences. After the lecture, Additional Solicitor General Dharmawardena had a cordial discussion with the Vice Chancellor Major General Milinda Peiris and the academic staff of the Faculty of Law, KDU.
